Route Descriptions for the 100km and 150km routes

The routes for the 2025 L’Étape Ireland have been created with the Tour De France organisers ASO and local cyclists to give you the best possible cycling experience.

The routes are all based in Carrick-on-Suir, the Home of Irish Cycling. Winding hills, hidden climbs, and breathtaking views await you at every turn in the heart of the southeast. The event village, start, and finish line are all set in Carrick-on-Suir, a town steeped in cycling heritage and nestled along the scenic River Suir.

150K Route Summary

The start will be a controlled motor car lead out through Carrick-on-Suir. Cyclists will flow through the town to Kilometre Zero where the lead out cars will pull to one side and timing will officially start. This enables safe passage through the narrow streets.

The 150KM Long Route is the ultimate Irish Tour de France experience – a challenging sportive designed for endurance riders who want to test their strength, tactics and resolve. With big climbs, open road sections, sprint zones and epic scenery, this is the flagship route of L’Étape Ireland 2025.

Direction: Clockwise loop through Waterford and Tipperary

  • Two timed King of the Mountains climbs

  • One sprint challenge

  • One timed section

  • Three feeding stations

100K Route Summary

The start will be a controlled motor car lead out through Carrick-on-Suir. Cyclists will flow through the town to Kilometre Zero where the lead out cars will pull to one side and timing will officially start. This enables safe passage through the narrow streets.
